Ray is an accountant. He is responsible and goes to his office every day. He loves polo shirts and jeans, and he wears his glasses all the time. He is always the first one to think about practical things at home — like groceries.

One morning, Ellie came to the kitchen and opened the fridge. She looked inside for a moment.

"Mom, there's no milk," she said.

Pam looked up from her laptop. "Ask your father to stop at the supermarket after work," she told her. "He can pick some up on the way home."

That evening, Ray came back from the office. He put his bag down and looked at Pam.

"Honey, remind me to get some groceries," he said. "We are out of milk."

"I know," Pam said. "Can you also get some bread? I think we need it."

"Of course," he said. "Is there anything else?"

"That's all for now," she told him. "Thank you."

📖 Key Reported Speech Verbs

said (that) Used to report statements: She said that she was tired.
